The reason why I’m particularly in love with the song is this: The listener gets lured into this false sense of security, thinking it’s a “You’re So Vain” copycat except a bop. So we’re all thinking it’s all about, I’m better than you and you don’t know who the song is about, and you are completely safe in knowing what this song is about because you know what it isn’t about. It’s about some mystery lover that you’ll never tell, right? A person can’t listen to it once, because the first time you hear it, you’re so shocked by what’s happening, from the false floor dropping out from beneath you as it smacks you in the mouth that, in fact, no, it’s not about you, and it’s not about Carly Simon’s mystery lover either, that you can’t get over the shock to take it in properly. You have to hear it twice.
John P.’s genre-bending music is an amazing call back to alternative radio in the 80s and 90s. You never know what style you’re going to get other than that it’ll have a pop and rock edge and be determined to get stuck in your head. I can’t wait to see where his inspiration takes him next. My only complaint is that a 4 song EP isn’t enough! Bring on the full length!
About You is AWESOME. I love how it goes from like really full to minimal and back again. It keeps you interested. I was kinda sad when it ended. I’m gonna listen to it again

Louisville artist, John P., releases powerhouse debut single “The First Time” : A song for lovers.
(Louisville Kentucky) Louisville artist John P. has released his major debut single, “The First Time” on all major streaming platforms and online music stores.
The song features unique vocal harmony mixed with electronic sounds that create a unique ebb and flow through out the song. With a heart pounding beat and a guitar lead straight out of the 80s this song is a “sonic masterpiece”.
The unique use of modern synths and electronic drums with old school style guitar along side hypnotizing vocal harmonies make this one of the most unique releases of the summer.
About the song from the Artist:
This song was written after a close call with my health last year. I wrote the song to my partner to let him know how much he meant to me just in case anything happened. We had had a few rough years that we had finally worked through and I think the lyrics reflect the exact message I was trying to give to him.“It feels like the first time, like I’m falling in love again”

As an artist I am constantly challenging myself. The videos below are part of a project that I’ve dubbed the “3 Day Cover Video Project”. Each of these videos were arranged, recorded, mixed, filmed and edited and uploaded to my YouTube channel in 3 days per song. The challenge was to learn to give myself deadlines and to also learn how to do video editing for full music videos in a short period of time.
